A tube and font of your choice. I used the awesome artwork of Barbara Jensen for this tag! You can purchase a licence to use her work. Please visit here and check out the tubes section.
Open a new image 600 x 600 with a transparent background. Floodfill with white.
Add a new raster layer and floodfill with a dark colour from your tube. Layers > Load / Save Mask > Load Mask from Disk. Locate sweetmask 32 in your drop down box and apply to the floodfilled layer with the following settings;
Right click on the mask layer in your layers palette and hit Merge > Merge Group.
Minimise for now and open a new canvas 600 x 600. Floodfill with white.
Choose a contrasting colour from your tube, add a new raster layer and floodfill with the
new colour.
Layers > Load / Save Mask > Load Mask from Disk. Locate sweetmask 33 in your drop down box
and apply to the floodfilled layer with the following settings;
Right click on the mask layer in your layers palette and hit Merge > Merge Group.
Still on the merged layer go to Edit > Copy.
Go back to your original canvas and go to Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.
Merge all layers visible.
We need to get the merged image to a more manageable size now so go to Image > Resize.
Resize by 85% with bicubic resample, all layers unchecked.
Repeat the resize four times.
Move the resized image to the top left corner of your canvas.
Duplicate the merged layer. Move it down on the canvas until the top left corner points to the center of the image below it.
Duplicate again and move this layer to the bottom of your layer palette.
Lower the opacity of the top layer to 44. Then merge all visible.
Duplicate the merged layer.
Image > Mirror.
Carefully line this duplicated layer up so that it makes a perfect square with the layer below it.
Duplicate again and send to the bottom of the layers palette. Lower the opacity of the top
layer to around 44.
Merge all visible.
Resize again by 85%. Repeat the Resize.
Move the merged image to the top left corner of your canvas.
Duplicate once.
Image > Mirror.
Merge all visible.
Duplicate again and go to Image > Flip.
Merge all visible.
You should now have something like this;
Resize by 85% with bicubic resample and all layers unchecked. Repeat once.
Add a new raster layer and floodfill with white. Send it to the bottom of your layer
palette. Make sure your merged layer is the active one and duplicate once.
Go to Image > Rotate > Free Rotate.
Rotate by 10 degrees to the right with rotate single layer around canvas checked.
Resize this rotated layer by 85% with bicubic resample, all layers unchecked.
Go back to your original merged layer.
Duplicate once more.
On the duplicated layer go to
Image > Rotate > Free Rotate.
Rotate by 20 degrees to the right with rotate single layer around canvas checked.
Resize this 2nd rotated layer by 85% with bicubic resample, all layers unchecked.
Repeat the resize and bring this layer to the top of your layers palette.
Add the following Drop Shadow to all three layers.
Close off the white background layer and Merge all Visible.
Go to your Selections tool and with these settings draw out a circle in the dead centre of your merged image. You might want to put the rulers on for this - View > Rulers - then line up your curser to the 300 mark on each side of the canvas to locate the center.
When you let your mouse go after you have got roughly the right size the selection will become a lot bigger, this is because of the feather we are applying. Hit delete on your keyboard 2 or three times and you should end up with something like this - the more times you hit delete the more feathered the hole will look;
Selections > Select None.
Copy your tube. Paste onto your working canvas as a new layer. Resize the tube layer so it fits just inside of the merged layers. Duplicate the tube and hide the duplicate layer for now. Move the original tube layer below the merged layer in your layers palette.
Go to Effects > Distortion Effects > Twirl.
Apply the Twirl Effect with 720 degrees.
Repeat once.
Effects > Distortion Effects > Spiky Halo.
Apply the Spiky Halo Effect with Horizontal and Vertical Offset set to 0, Amplitude set to 96, Frequency set to 2, Radius set to 1 and then check transparent in the edge mode section.
Go back to your Selection tool. Keep the settings exactly as they were before but this time choose the rectangle setting in the drop down box for Selection Type.
Draw out a rectangle just inside the edge of the merged layer.
Go to Selections > Invert and hit delete twice. This gets rid of the untidy bits around the edge of the merged layer.
Selections > Select None.
Hide the white background layer and then merge all visible.
Make the duplicated Tube layer visible and active. Apply the Drop Shadow we used earlier.
Resize to suit and postition her where you want her.
Add a new raster layer and position it between the white background and the merged layer.
Floodfill with a colour from your tube.
Layers > Load / Save Mask > Load Mask from Disk.
Locate my sweetmask34 in the dropdown box and apply with these settings;
Merge the group and lower the opacity of the group layer to around 64.
