For this tutorial you will need the following supplies;

Paint Shop Pro trial version available here

A fancy font (I used Alex Brush)

There are no outside filters used in this tutorial.

A tube ~ You will need an image of a face, I used the gorgeous work of Anthony Guerra for the examples in this tutorial. Please visit his website here. If you want to use his images you need a licence. Visit The CILM webset here for more information.

Lets tut!


Open a new image 500 x 400. Rename this layer Background.

Select two contrasting colours from your image and set your fill to gradient.

Foreground - background > Angle 180 > repeats 0

Floodfill your new image with the gradient. Rename this layer background.

Effects > Texture Effects > Blinds.

Apply these settings;



Selections > Select All.

Selections > Modify > Contract > Contract by 5 pixels.

Selections > Invert.

Add a new raster layer.

Change your gradient settings to Repeats > 3.

Floodfill selected area on new layer with your gradient.

Effects > Texture Effects > Blinds.

Apply as before changing the opacity setting to 20.



Selections > Invert.

Selections > Modify > Contract by 5 pixels.

Add a new raster layer. Selections > Invert.

Change your gradient settings to Repeats > 5.

Floodfill selected area on new layer with the gradient.

Move this layer so that it is between your background layer and your other layer.

Selections > Select None.

Close off your background layer.

Add a drop shadow to the two visible layers with these settings.



Change the horizontal and vertical settings to -2 and repeat drop shadow on both layers.

Merge visible layers together and rename Outer Frame.

Make background layer visible and active.

Selections > Select All.

Add a new raster layer and name it Image.

Open your tube and copy it.

On your working canvas go to

Edit > Paste > Paste into selection on Image layer.

Selections > Select None.

Lower the opacity of the Image layer to 12.

Making sure the image layer is the active layer, paste your tube onto the canvas as a new layer. Rename this layer face.

Resize if required and position it to the left of your canvas. Lower the opacity of the Face layer to 16 and duplicate it.

Image > Mirror.

Move the duplicated face layer so that the two images meet centrally.



Close off Outer Frame Layer and merge visible layers.

Rename merged layer Background.

Make the outer frame layer visible again and the background layer the active layer.

Copy your image again and paste it onto your working canvas as a new layer.

Rename this layer Face. Resize if required and move across to the left of the canvas. Lower the opacity to about 68.




Use the soften brush to tone down the edge of the image.



Minimise your working image for now.

Open a new image 400 x 400 with a transparent background.

Copy your tube/image and paste it onto the new canvas as a new layer.

Back on your tube/image use your selections tool set to rectangle and select a part of her face.




Edit > Copy

Right click on your workspace and paste as new image.

Selections > Select all.

Selections > Modify > Contract.

Contract by 5 pixels.

Selections > Invert.

Add a new raster layer and flood fill with a dark colour from your tube.

Keep selected and go to Effects > 3D Effects > Inner Bevel.

Apply an inner bevel with these settings.



Selections > Select none.

Edit > Copy Merged.

Go back to your new canvas and paste as a new layer.

Position the section on the canvas slightly off from where it would match the original image.



Repeat these steps selecting different parts of the face until you have built up a shattered image.



Once you have the pieces in place close off the original image layer and merge the pieces together.



Go back to your original working canvas and paste the pieces image as a new layer. Rename it Shattered. Resize this layer by 80% all layers unchecked, and position it between the face layer and the outer frame layer up towards the top right hand side of the canvas.

Add a drop shadow.



Repeat the drop shadow changing the vertical and horizontal values to -2

Now add in your name.

Select your font and set your text to these settings.



Change your fill back to a solid colour and apply your text.

Use the vector nodes to stretch your text to fit into the space at the bottom of the tag.



When you are happy with the placement convert to raster layer and apply the same inner bevel as we used for the frames.

Finally add the drop shadow and repeat with the -2 settings.

Don't forget to add in your © info and watermark if you use one.

Resize the tag to your taste and save as a jpeg.
