I used the artwork of Barbara Jensen for the examples in this tut. You need to buy a licence to be able to use her artwork. Please visit her website here for more information!
Lets start!
Open a new raster image 500 x 500 with a transparent background.
Floodfill with white and rename background.
Open your tube.
Copy and paste it as a new raster layer.
Resize your tube so that it fits neatly onto the canvas with space around it. Position her slightly to the right.
Duplicate the tube layer and close off the duplicate. Reactivate the original tube layer. Rename Mosaic.
Go to Effects > Plug-ins > VM Distortion > Mosaic Ripple.
Apply with Size = 22 and Amount = 176.
Duplicate the mosaic layer twice.
Close off the top layer and make the middle layer the active one.
Image > Mirror.
Position these two visible layers so that they meet in the center.
Make sure the middle layer is active. Right click and merge down.
Duplicate the merged layer. Rename the duplicated layer Merged Mosaic.
Activate the original merged layer. Rename Circulator.
On Circulator layer go to Effects > Plug-ins > VM Distortion > Circulator.
Apply the following settings;
Duplicate this layer.
Image > Flip.
Move each layer slightly to the edge of the canvas.
Right Click on the upper circulator layer and merge down.
Lower the opacity to 80.
Make all layers visible.
The top layer should be your tube layer. Activate it and duplicate.
Move the duplicated tube layer down below your mosaic layer and rename it Zoom.
Your layer palette should look like this;
Close off your Tube layer and your Mosaic layer.
Make sure the Zoom layer is the active one.
Go to Effects > Plug-ins > VM Tool Box > Zoom Blur.
The settings for this filter will depend on the tube you used. I set mine to Amount = 24 and Adjust = 29. You can get some awesome effects with Zoom Blur so play around with it!
Once you are happy with how it looks in the preview window, apply and then move the blur layer slightly off center to the left of your canvas.
Lower the opacity of the zoom layer to 80. Activate your mosaic layer and make visible.
Move this layer slightly down and to the right of the canvas.
Close off the background layer and merge all visible.
Resize by 85%, Bicubic Resample checked, All Layers unchecked.
Make your background layer and your tube visible.
Position your tube towards the center of the canvas. (Or where you think it looks good!)
Apply the following Drop Shadow;
Repeat Drop Shadow but change the horizontal and vertical values to -2.
Now we are going to add a quotation or slogan or even a name if thats how you want your tag to look!
I chose "True Beauty comes from Within" but it is up to you what you decide to make your tag say!
Select a complimentary contrasting colour from your image for your background colour. Remember, depending on where you are going to position your text it will need to stand out against the background.
Make your Foreground Null.
I used Al Evening Stroll for my quote text. Any thin script type font will work well.
Now, select your preset shapes tool set to elipse with these settings;
Draw a circle slightly smaller than the background circular shape on your tag.
Select your text tool.
Move your curser over the vector circle layer until you see a capital A with a semi circle underneath it. Once that symbol appears apply your text.
